About Chris

Hi, I am Chris Baker. I am the founder and primary practitioner at Baker Wellness.

I was born and raised in the southern RI and attended public schools between North Kingstown and Exeter West-Greenwich. After graduating high school, I pursued two degrees at The University of Rhode Island where I majored in Political Science in Sociology. After taking some time off post-undergrad, I decided to explore in more depth working in the human service field (where I began working at age 18) and was accepted into the Master of Social Work program at Rhode Island College.

Having worked in the human services field for almost 15 years and in direct practice for almost a decade, I understand that importance of collaboration, developing manageable/attainable goals with clients, and looking at progress adaptively; I know that sometimes we move the goalposts, and sometimes life seems to move them for us. I utilize a variety of tenets and principles from my background in the behavioral health field and integrate a variety of treatment modalities (including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy).

I am licensed as an Independent Clinical Social Worker in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Prior to opening Baker Wellness, I worked in private practice and was in a clinical leadership position for an international behavioral health navigation and consulting firm located out of Boston, MA.

When not spending my time collaborating with clients, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, golfing, and traveling.
